What Johor Premium Outlets?

I have some time to spare today since it is Federal day and we are off! :)

So everyone has been talking about this premium place in Johor Bahru town and being a Johorean myself, I have never like.. NEVER heard of this place called the Johor Premium Outlets.

It is nothing like a factory outlet. But what I heard from people who have been there is that this place offers various kinds of branded goods at a fairly reasonable price.

I don't consider myself a branded person and I have never been into an LV, Chanel, Burberry, or Prada shop until my colleagues insisted to pop my cherry..Not even Coach until recently. So I figured that since I had a long break during this CNY, why not drag my friends along.

So this is how the JPO looks like.

Its location is in the middle of nowhere, away from the main town/city, away from malls and nearer to the airport in Senai.

When we got there, I was shocked by the number of cars. It was so freaking packed that cars were parked on the main roads, even before the turning into JPO.

Tell me how many out of the lot actually walks home with a Burberry or thousands worth of products? 2 out of 10? heh.

I gave up queuing after waiting for 20mins.

Why on earth would people want to visit Johor Bahru since it is full of 'crime', 'lala' people, and you can find better malls in the nearby cities? This has always been the stereotype from many people that I know. But in contrary, growing up here makes me realize how special this town is, let's put aside the dark side for a bit. There are many nice places that you can visit for sight seeing, plenty of good food and most Johoreans here are kind too =P

Anyway, some of the brands that you can find here include Charles and Keith, Guess, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, Cotton on, La Senza, Vincci, Pedro and a lot more.

Lingerie started from as low as 8 undies for RM 60 and 2 for RM 100.

Shoes in both C&K and Pedro were as low as RM 39 ++

But if you ask me, although prices did make a slight difference, the items were mostly off last season.

However, I did find some cheap accessories at Vincci although I did not find many things recognizable. They were pretty old and I was particularly disappointed with the C&K there because although the prices of their shoes started from as low as RM 39, designs were bluek. The cheaper brands like Padini, and Cotton On were more or less the same price as the ones you can find elsewhere. Heck, even the Starbucks and Coffeebean also same price =P

So it's either lower prices for older goods. Or higher prices for nicer, newer products. Which one is it? If you ask me, the JPO is pretty overrated and it is worth going to only if you have spare time in your hands ;)

Welcoming the Year of the Dragon!

RAWR! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

I am back home for the entire week :)

Chinese from all parts of the world welcome the year of the Dragon this year. Personally, I hear a lot of people planning for babies, so we can expect a baby boom this year, just like the year I was born back in 1988. That reminds me, and a whole lot of weddings to attend too this year >.<

The new year is a great time to see friends and relatives. Though as we grow older, we find that these celebrations are just another reason to catch up and ask your how-are-yous. Not saying that it is pointless but we do not have to wait for a moment like this to greet our loved ones, really. A phone call, text or message is enough a gesture to keep in touch.

So first things first, I want to tell my friends, family, and loved ones that I love every one of you and HERE'S A BIG FAT HUG TO AN AWESOME YEAR AHEAD!

*hugs*

Back then when we were younger it was all about the Ang Baos and presents and as kids, we could not wait to grow up fast so that we can spread our wings and fly (metaphorically). But now that some of us are all grown up, it really is not about the Ang Baos and we start to yearn for the good old days, for time to slow down so we can savour all the sweet moments of our lives.

If I could pocket down everything, I would but in reality, we just grow up, work our ass off, start a family, grow old, and die. It's a vicious cycle.

For the Tan family, we never miss the reunion dinner. It is a Chinese culture to have dinner (or lunch..or a meal) with your family. It signifies togetherness, the reunion of family members and loved ones on this significant day. It is also a dinner for celebration, to welcome a greater, more prosperous year.

Mum, dad and I had a mini celebration at home. She cooked the steamboat soup and we went 'shopping' for seafood and vege earlier in the morning. I'm starting to like going to wet markets, weird.

(I'm also munching on loveletters as I'm typing this. Damn these new year cookies.)

Chinese New Year to me is always filled with all kinds of sounds. Good ones of course!

Of dances.

Of laughter.

and happiness.

Hope all of you are having a good time with your family and friends back home.

Growing another year older means a lot more responsibilities (haih *in denial) and I have learned a lot in this one year. I would like to thank all of you who have stood by me, believed in me, and my friends and family members who are always there for me.

With the new year comes hopes and wishes for greater things that life have to offer :)

Gelish nails.

Back then, I could never understand why people (including men) would spend money on nail polish and pedicure when they can easily apply it themselves.

I tried the manicure services in a few different outlets and if you ask me, I will not pay more than

RM 40 on basic mani/pedi. Totally not worth it because basic nail polish only last not more than 2 weeks.

But my theory is that Pedicure can last way longer since our feet don't do much work besides walking.

Anyway, I have been wanting to try Gelish for the longest time (standard price starts from RM 60 and above) Gelish does not chip, peel, is fast curing, and can last for up to 3 weeks or longer depending on your daily chores.

Normal french manicure (can't really tell the difference apart from the shininess/thickness but I assure you it is way more lasting. No matter what I do, wash, touch or bang I no longer have to worry about my nails hoho!)

P.S I've got butterfingers and clumsy so yea..

Gelish (pastel orange/pink)

Gelish takes up to maximum 4 minutes to dry under the UV light and there are two methods to remove the gel colour:

1) Using the nail file (a lot more harsh on your nails) or

2) Soak off method (takes about 15 min using the correct solution)

Check out MichellePhan's tutorial on how to apply gelish nails, I think this helps a lot if you want to give it a try on your own.

OPI is also launching its Gel Color, available in 30 shades!

Can't wait to get my hands on them :)

Day Two in Chiang Mai

At first when I told my friends we were going to Chiang Mai for our company trip, many of them said, "Oh, it's a nice place to chill". "Just to chill?" I asked. So hence I did not expect Chiang Mai to be super happening and neither was I expecting to be amazed or surprised. But I was wrong.

Having been to only Bangkok before this, I have always thought of Thailand as a shopping city. Everything is cheap, good and pretty (including the girls there, seriously!)

Before I continue, we headed to the mall on our last day and was surprised to see that plastic surgery there costs less than 1k (about RM500 to be exact, it was pasted all over the "clinic") REALLY DIRT CHEAP! No wonder they all have nice nose..er hum.

So anyway, we woke up super early the on our second day for the tour to the Elephant camp. Having been exposed to the circus life since young, elephants and wild animals never really amazed me anymore. But again, I was proven wrong. Let me explain why.

1) Elephant Show

First it was the gimmicks and tricks. From playing dead to kicked footballs, and massaging humans to painting. The elephants are amazing!

What surprised me though was the perfect communication between the trainers and the elephants.

They were not tied AT ALL. They roamed freely but still controlled. It was then I wished I could speak Thai..to the elephants.

2) Riding the elephant FOR AN HOUR

Okay, this one left me breathless until today, when I think of Chiang Mai, I think of elephant riding.

It wasn't just plain sitting on the elephant, snap a few photographs and we are good to go. It felt more like..a roller coaster ride on an elephant's back. We didn't get to choose which elephant we wanted to ride on (although most of them look the same to me except for their height and belly sizes).

I rode with Raessa. It takes mad camwhore skills to snap while on the elephant ok!

The seats were tied firmly on the back and the elephant walked us for as far as 4km, which took about almost an hour. We rode through river streams and up hill! What amazed me was the fact that the elephants knew the routes so well, they were extremely obedient walking in a row although halfway through, our elephant decided to do a Malaysian by overtaking the other elephants.

No kidding!

Finally after one hour of riding up and down hill, we stopped by the souvenir stall where I got myself an anklet and bracelet (you guessed it, with elephants dangling!) hahahah

3) Ox cart riding

This wasn't as fun but pity the ox, they had to carry 5 passengers (including the "driver") per round.

We had lunch in the elephant camp but I lost my appetite thinking of the dungs and how the place smelled =P

4) Bamboo rafting

This was so relaxing. If you are thinking of going to Chiang Mai, you need to do this whole tour thing, it will blow your mind.

The six of us went on it together and we took turns rafting the base made out of bamboo sticks.

The sounds of river flowing, birds chirping and wind blowing was serene. We tried hard not to doze off in case we fell into the river without any life jackets.

Here we learned the art of making umbrellas from scratch. I took some pictures but didn't bother to queue to listen to the process.

RAWR.

The old umbrellas remind me of the Chinese Ghost Story about the umbrella ghost being trapped in it and there is a curse on whoever who opens the umbrella indoors. So it kind of freaked me out.

At night.

We headed back to the hotel but exhaustion didn't stop us from roaming the streets and getting our cheap massages.

We stopped by to try their McD's. I should set it a requirement to try all the McDonald's across countries. They have ham and egg pie, corn pie and pineapple pie in Chiang Mai.

Still, the best buy ever would still have to be the 150 baht/hour massages. RM 15 FOR ONE HOUR. There's no where else with such good price with mad skills.

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Chinese New Year is almost around the corner.

I will be flying back home this weekend, so there goes my momentum. Feeling a little restless lately because of the lack of sleep, holiday, work, and cny break. Gah.

I was supposed to upload the remaining photos from our Chiang Mai trip but I'm just too plain lazy at the moment (hee! shows peace sign). Plus my work mail just crashed on me, lost all my mails T_T even our programmers couldn't do much. So no mood.

Going to pen down what I have been up to lately.

1. Family time!

We had a great start to the year with more family time. Having been staying alone in this city for the past five years, I have almost forgotten the feeling of a huge family gathering. Since my grandparents are no longer with us, we rarely get a chance to meet up because everyone is everywhere. But then again, that has always been an excuse why meet-ups often fail.

My cousin, Kyvern got married to his long time girlfriend, Pam.

We also had our very own high tea at my Aunt's.

My baby cousin from Melbourne came to spend CNY here. No longer a baby, he's grown far too tall. Haih.

We brought them around to different malls and restaurants. Also went to the arcade.

It felt great racing and playing some basketball (in the arcade of course =P)

Oh and archery too, so stylo! :D

2. 2012 also started with a bang with our company trip on the first week itself! (part 2 coming up!)

3. CNY shoot for The Star

Got a call from my primary school best friend who asked for a favour so alongside with a few other girls (born in the year of a dragon) to pose for their cameraman.

I hope the photo turns out fine because it's going to be nationwide. I didn't know what to wear, no red coloured clothing or cheong sams because unlike other people, CNY to me is just another celebration.

So I ended wearing this pink crochet top I got from our Thailand trip with a black dress. I know I know, black = pantang! but...that's why I balanced it with pink =P

Though just another celebration, CNY also means..shopping time! (brings me to point 4)

Got myself a few dresses. I'm so happy that I found a tiny looking shop amidst the Ah Beng shops in Pyramid. They have super nice clothing (Audrey Hepburn style!)

Speaking of gel type manicure, they last super long and do not chip off easily. I have never managed to have perfect looking nails, freshly painted for more than 2 weeks. So I think I'm going to stick with this (Gel manicure) for a while.

Also got myself two pair of sandals. I figured that it is now time to move on from wearing flip flops daily.

People often think I am not heading to work (all dressed up in working attire but wearing flip flops) -__-"

5. Reliving childhood

I was delighted when I saw this at a convenience shop one day.

Happier than when you pick up a RM 5 note because I never thought I would see this thing again.

Who on earth would think this still exist. It may be silly but life is also about enjoying the silly things that crack you up. So anyway, immediately I got it and went home to play! :D

It has been a good start so far though hiccups are bound to happen. I was talking to Shaz the other day about resolutions. I don't believe in it because no one, i repeat NOBODY fulfills all their resolutions. By year end, you would probably have forgotten what point 4 was =P right..

This might sound weird but this year..I want to win something. It could be as simple as a consumer contest, radio, photo whatsoever. I have never won any contest of that sort, so it would be great. You must think I'm silly right now. Anyway, be right back. Hope for a better week ahead.

Day One in Chiang Mai

We arrived at the Siri Panna resort in Chiang Mai earlier this morning. Just a quick update on what we did today. Both the Malaysian and Singaporean nuffies are here on a 3 nights getaway.

It is my first time here in Chiang Mai so honestly, I did not have much expectations. Activities and itinerary were not shared with us until earlier today (imagine!) so most of us basically dumped whatever clothing for both hot and cold weather, shorts, sweaters, etc.

#1 SiriPanna Resort

The resort is beautiful, staffs are pretty friendly too. They greeted us with a welcome drink before we moved on for our first activity.

First activity of the day was none other than...a...

#3 Cooking class

We were divided into different teams and presented with ingredients for the Phad Thai, Tom Yam, Papaya salad, and my favourite Red Ruby with water chestnut for dessert.

They even have their own paddy field. So our second activity of the day was learning to PLANT THE ~~GODDAMN~~ PADDY. Omg it was extremely fun..but disgusting. We stepped into a muddy field that looks like this:

I dream of having a place of my own.

Photographs are great to look at whenever there is time to spare. Some random photos I took one carefree evening.

If you like reading or rather viewing random photos, I recently started a tumblr account to see what the craze was all about. See iamdoink.tumblr.com for short videos and photos that crack me up :)

Maybe ten or twenty years down the road, I'd run a place like this. Somewhere people can just sit back and relax. Read a good book, listen to some nice tunes that would calm hearts. Absolutely love this place and how it is tastefully done.

It has been a great start to the new year, what more can I ask for. Been spending more time with my loved ones, any chance or time I have apart from working and what-nots. Weekends are precious to me, it's the only time to pamper and spoil myself with some good food, leisure, beauty sleep, series, good reads, as well as some wondermilk.

Will be traveling to Chiang Mai in a day's time, looking forward to the company trip.

Ugh if only some genius invented a robot to help pack and unpack hee :D

Getting the double E

So a few days ago I was over at my Aunt's for high tea and I couldn't resist trying the extensions.

Eyelash extensions are very popular these days and since my aunt is currently practicing this unique skill, I volunteered to become her model and gave it a try so she could also practice it on me.

Post eyelash extensions

It was not my first time trying eyelash extensions. I have tried eyelash perming (which didn't last very long by the way) but it felt very foreign to me.

We start by covering the bottom lashes with tape so as to avoid the lashes from bonding together. It hurts bad especially if the glue is dries on lashes that are stuck together. So anyway, once lashes are covered, the beautician will start by applying lashes one by one, layer by layer. Stick them on between areas that have fewer lash. Apparently lashes fall every now and then (about 3 months) and start growing again. Both eyes have lashes of various lengths and some parts may be emptier than others.

I prefer using individual lashes instead of those 3in1 lashes that you can find in make-up and drug stores. Good thing about individual lashes is that it will not be obvious when some fall off unlike 3in1 lashes because of its thickness, and if you lose 1 set, you would have lost 3 strands of lashes. Get what I mean?

Pros and cons of eyelash extensions.

Pros:

- They can look very natural if done correctly and your lashes look fuller without mascara.

- No need to curl lashes and lessen the hassle of applying false lashes

- Eyes appear wider and more appealing, no need for heavy make up, simple add on some eyeliner and you are good to go

- They last for a few weeks so picture having long and full lashes without having to take them off or

Cons:

- Maintenance of eyelash extensions require a lot of effort, you will need to wash your face carefully because they fall off easily if you get them wet

- Real lashes may permanently fall off together with the eyelash extensions and it can damage your real lashes

- You need a lot of patience with eyelash extensions both during the process of applying it, maintaining it and getting it off.

Everybody loves gifts! I promised to share what I bought this year and honestly, it's been a long time since I had a tree filled with Christmas presents at home. This year was special to me because not only is it hard to find time to meet everybody I want to see..it was almost impossible to gather people because everyone is elsewhere somewhere.

This Christmas was one rare occasion when I could spend time with my dearest ones and close friends.

We started off with a potluck over at Tim's and had our regular "secret santa" amongst our office colleagues. I was really glad when I picked my santee's name.

I thought it would be easy shopping for a gift but it wasn't at all. He's a passionate person who is also very talented. So I got him these:

Maybe because it is year end, everywhere seems to be pretty dull. Traffic is smooth flowing and the office is empty. Everyone is either away on a holiday or stuck at home clearing their annual leave. I was supposed to be on leave too but decided that since I'm behind target, might as well push and try my luck -_-"

I don't really blog about intimate details of my personal life here but maybe I should start since I got my blog this "Christmas present" (if you hadn't already noticed I can haz dot com now yay! *jakun*) Then again, I used to be able to blabber nonsense but I guess knowing that you're being judged by every single picture you post, or words you type that sometimes don't mean anything, I'm not too sure I want that kind of unnecessary pressure. I just want to scribble and write my mind without offending anybody.

I'm also a nerd when it comes to IT stuff.

Today something else made my day. Just when I thought it was going to be another slow day. One of my clients gave me these:

Maybelline make-up items consisting of eyeliners, lipsticks of different shades and tones, earth eyeshadow because I told her I prefer earth tones, bb cream that has yet to be launched, bb cream in mousse form, lip gloss and my favourite Falsies mascara.

How not to put a smile on any girls face YOU TELL ME :D

Had my last shoot for the year. I was happy and nervous when approached for a photo shoot. Happy because I get to have more chun photos to keep and nervous because it has been a long while since I smiled for a professional camera. It's been almost one year.

Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards '11

While some of us are busy updating and resizing photos from NAPBAS (the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards), here I am blogging about my first experience as a nuffie being part of the region's biggest, most anticipated event.

It is not about being the best or the worst bloggers, but rather the blog awards is about acknowledging bloggers from all across Asia Pacific, bringing together everyone from various backgrounds and recognizing the hard work of each individual. The NAPBAS is all about appreciating and celebrating the goodness of blogging as a whole.

Nothing beats having a ballroom filled with people of dissimilar lifestyles that have one thing in common -the passion for blogging.

NAPBAS from my perspective not as a spectator but behind the scenes.

Some of the NAPBAS team members burnt midnight oil countless nights putting this event together.

A big big shoutout to Michelle, Nic Chay, Min, Fresh and Firdy. I couldn't understand it fully whenever Tim used to tell us, "you will feel the proudest that you are a nuffie on the awards night",

and it's true.

We are the luckiest bunch to be able to see this through, to help in any way we could be it in stage, logistics, ushering, registration, as bouncers, lighting and sounds, et cetera.

Oh and most of the nuffies got our hair styled by Number76 hair salon that afternoon.

I was in charged of performance and the welcoming committee that day.

Also found time to make up 5 girls - Cassie, Sue, Rina, Thara, and Wenny. Sad because I forgot to snap photos of each of them to show you my artwork -__-" but they all looked...beautiful that night.

Christmas is just around the corner and I've been thinking, while jotting down a list of items I'm planning to buy my friends and loved ones, here are some ideas if you're cracking your brains like I am right now..for my secret santee >.<

I know shoes can be difficult to buy because everyone of us have different sizes.
Heck, sometimes even your left foot can be larger than your right. It's true!

Cash vouchers from a particular shop that she likes. Imagine shopping in your favourite shop with endless (I mean, a set amount of) cash vouchers! *swoons*

Apart from shoes, the easiest thing to get a girl is accessories. Seriously, I think accessories are the best invented items be it belts, necklaces, hats or this (below).

Bags!!

Personally, I think bags are a good buy. You can reuse them over and over again to suit different occasions and the best thing is, when you get tired of them just use them to store other items.

I have never bought myself or owned any branded bags because I always thought, "They either look the same or all the rich taitais have it or they are merely a symbol of one's status"..I don't know why but I cannot seem to fathom that.

Until recently I asked curiously and one of them answered, "only get the classics because those are the ones that would last you long enough (in terms of design and ROI - return on investment, sorry still in the work mode) to give to your offsprings and that you can keep"..
So it's an investment. I see. In a way. So I kept quiet later.

Among all the premium brands, I personally really like Marc Jacobs.

~~No GUESS, no Coach, no Prada, no LV,~~ just this. So pretty!

Enough with the body lotions, soaps with candles and body wash sets, they are too common these days. Really, you hop into Body Shop to check out their Christmas packages and you buy them. Next thing you know, one year later it's still sitting there with it's packaging at the corner of your room.

Gone are the days when we play paper and pencil games like Hangman, TicTacToe, and all the other silly games we draw and create. As far as I remember, my friend and I would kill time doodling on useless pieces of papers, folding origami et cetera.

11 months gone by

By the good old days I actually mean those times when it was less stressful, less dramatic, and fewer responsibilities. I was looking through my old Xanga blog for an old photo of my gown for Angie the other day because she wanted to see what I will be wearing for this coming blog awards but I couldn't find it. Instead, I was a little saddened because back then, I could just scribble without any care in the world, my personal thoughts, my student life, experiences, and nonsense without being judged. Wait, that's not entirely true though there was once I had a blog entry dedicated to me by a hater. But anyway, all's good now heh.

Good news though, I can still fit in that same gown I wore in my first uni prom in 2007! *woohoo!*

To my surprise, I have been blogging for a good 4 years now (since 2007). Reading back gives me mixed feelings because all these notes, they keep my memories alive..in a good but weird way. I can't explain.

So it's that time of the year again when we look back and reflect on the past 11 months, the good and bad, the days that have gone awfully wrong and series of events that made our days.

After two years of traveling to Bangkok during each new year celebration, we finally celebrated Chinese New Year in our new home. The open house, market shopping, ang pow collection was tons of fun! and not forgetting all the cleaning up and mess after! =P

Sometimes it helps to pause for a moment to ask ourselves and each other from time to time, what is it that makes us really happy. It may only be four words but the answer can be tricky and come to think of it, I would probably need to pick my brains for at least say..a minute or more whenever someone asks, what makes you happy?

Just a random thought. I read somewhere that it helps noting down how we feel, what our goals are be it long or short term, and keeping track of where we stand perhaps every quarter to see if we are on track.

By looking at the list of songs, I can safely conclude that I'm an old school-er ;)

To me, being happy means taking little things into account. It could be as simple as someone holding the lift for me to get in so I can punch in to work on time *har har*, or even a smile or gesture to make my day. Of course I'm talking about genuine smile here because I know it when you fake =P

Apart from being sure about our goals and direction in life, being happy could also mean optimism and a happy mind. I'm the sort who gets mad and forgets fast (having a gold fish memory seems to be a plus point here) which is a good thing because happy people see things differently and they affect those around them. But I guess it's normal to feel down once in a while but always believe in enjoying the little things in life and living in the moment.

Being thankful helps too. I think Thanksgiving should be everyday, just like Valentine's Day. It shouldn't be a one-day-oh-we-need-to-give-thanks-or-buy-flowers-kind-of-day. Having been through some scenarios recently I can say that many of us tend to take things for granted. Although I do meet many who are grateful and kind, yet there are still some who are the total opposite. Then again, which human being is perfect? Even I make mistakes but I'm not shy to apologize for things that I did wrong because people learn from mistakes. It irks me to see insensitive and irresponsible fellas at times. They say,

"Anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die."

How true.

Anyway, happy post should be nothing but jolly. I know what makes me happy now! Planning a holiday or road trip does wonders to my happy nerves ahem *hints* =D

Since I have more than a minute to think, some happy things that make my day:

- a hot bath to get my day pumpin' followed by smooth flowing traffic to work

- self pampering at the nails salon (manicure and pedicure makes me week!)

- body massages

- both dressing and catching up

- a happy tweet from anybody

- watch the boys performing on stage

- when anything I experiment succeeds like my last minute perm and eyebrow action hoho!

- singing my lungs out

- dancing (all kinds!)

- sweating out after yoga or badminton

- knowing that people are appreciative

-chocolates *guilty* (doesn't help that we've got tons of snickers, mars, m&ms and hershey's in the office!)

New York Fashion Week in town.

Red is hot!

Over the years I've grown to like experimenting.

Back in college and university it was pretty laid back, just one stroke of eyeliner and my regular lip balm (I've been using Bodyshop's lip balm for years and I still love it!) and I'm ready to go. My interest in beauty sort of grew since way back in 2008 when I started putting on my own make up at shoots and getting advice from make up artists that I meet along the way.

Now that I'm working, making up becomes part of my daily routine.

My usual make up tools include a peachy eyeshadow tone, bb cream (I use this instead of the foundation), blusher, sometimes bronzer, and the eye liner. Don't really bother using mascara because my lash can never curl *sad either that or I just suck at using eyelash curler. So I prefer using false lashes, the extremely natural looking ones of course.

Today's post is about applying red lipstick. Most times I do envy ladies who can pull off red lips and especially each time when I flip pages in magazines and I see photographs of celebrities in their beautiful gown and red lipstick, I can't help but picture how it would look like on me.

So last Halloween was my first attempt at wearing red lipstick, I've never worn lipstick, ever..

but..I.....surprisingly.....liked it.

I think red lipstick can make or break your look. It is always advisable to avoid heavy eye makeup in order for it to stand out.

Only eye liner, eyeshadow base and lashes plus my "new" brows <3!

On a side note, I really like the results of my brows after embroidery, it gets more natural each day and I didn't even have to draw my brows.

Tips for applying red lipstick: Use a neutral tone lip liner to outline your lips before applying the colour. Since it was my first time, I took it very slowly because it could look really messy, out of shape and if you have butterfingers like mine, you could risk getting your teeth dirty (stained!) lol

You can also use a concealer to clean up the shape after applying. Enjoy! =)

Our favourite annual fashion show is back!

The Victoria Secret Fashion Show 2011 this year will showcase artistes such as Adam Levine from Maroon Five, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, and Jay-Z. Remember last time we had Katy Perry and Black Eyed Peas performing to gorgeous models strutting down the runway in glittering lingerie and costumes?

Motivation of the day <3

Balik kampung!

Flew back on Friday night after work to attend my cousin's wedding on Saturday night at Pagoh, a small town about an hour and a half drive away from Johor Bahru.

The last I remember visiting my mum's kampung (village) was at least 8 years ago. I must have been in my teens back then =P My cousin whom I've not seen in ages (..and not to mention same age as me) is a happily married guy already! SO FAST! I still remember cycling and riding the motorcycle back in the good old kampung days with my ponytail brushed against my shoulders as the wind blew on our faces.

Now we're all grown up pfft.

As usual whenever someone in the village holds a wedding dinner, people would gather at the infamous chinese school hall nearby. We were greeted by my uncle (mum's only brother) who was so happy that we came. The night was filled with joyful laughter and some karaoke singing. I swear my ears almost bled listening to some of them who were singing off key Hokkien tunes!

Approximately 70 tables or more

Ten years ago they looked a lot less haggard, people age too fast! I met a lot of people that I couldn't recognize anymore and of course a lot of children running about, I almost couldn't keep up >.<

On a brighter note, mum was glad that people thought she looks a lot younger than before lol!

So happy she was grinning non stop heh.

Earlier in the afternoon we went to Holiday Plaza for DVD shopping and I managed to squeeze in time for manicure.

Although dinner was nothing over the top and simple, people were having a very good time. Just shows how we can be happy as long as we learn to be contented with the things we have :)

Bonbrow by Empro

Here's an update after one week.

This was taken within the first few days after the treatment. Colour still fairly dark.

and finally after waiting for seven days..I'm extremely happy with the results from my experience with Empro's embroidery.

For comparison's sake:

It is very natural looking, many have asked if I'd recommend them and if it's painful. My answer; it is definitely worth the try, pain is bearable if you would like to redefine your looks further. I'm going for the complimentary touch up (same procedures in a month's time).

..not drastic to a great extent but..drastic lah. =P After discussing with Angie, Rina and Mimi in the office, I decided..

Bonbrow is the latest technology for eyebrow embroidery by Empro and it is specifically designed to give our eyebrows a natural look.

Especially if you have eyebrows like mine, sparse and fugly.

This is me on Sunday morning, hair fell flat into centre parting like a geek.

And if you're untalented like me, with no eyebrows shaping skill you better do something about it -__-" The moment your brows grow longer you either need to shave, go for threading (better choice!), or pluck them.

It was obvious..the signs were there.. the concourse event, promoters (damn good sales person!), booths, photos.. I finally gave in. Previously I thought that embroidery would make you look fake and ugly, you know those eyebrows (tattooed onto your skin) that would peel and look green or reddish?

I searched for Aunty brows and the results showed me this:

Since we're talking about brows, I decided to do some research. Eyebrows typically define your face, most Chinese I know have pretty sparse eyebrows, it's sad I know.

The stereotype with us having mono eyelids, semi double lids and sparse brows. No kidding. But trust me, brows help define and brighten your face, it can either make you look extremely haggard or it can make you glow. But of course, you need to find the perfect shape that suits your face.

Better still, follow your brow bone for a natural fit otherwise you will look weird with a straight brow instead of a supposedly arched brow that fits your face. The beautician told me that my brows were uneven :( one side is higher than the other, which is supposed to be normal. I refuse to be NORMAL! >.<

I felt a little heavyhearted, not knowing what to expect and there were a lot of questions in my mind. But the people working at Empro were pretty friendly, my beautician (Irene) first started shaping my brows with an eyebrow liner /pencil.

This process took about almost 30-40 minutes and it's your only chance to voice out your opinions. If you like or hate the shape.

I prefer thicker brows plus after doing bonbrow, your skin will peel and it will start to thin.

Then finally it was time for the embroidery process. She started off with a fresh new needle (make sure you see them using a brand new packet) and starts poking your pores before using anesthetic to slightly numb your brows. The needles poking did hurt a little but it was bearable, but then again my pain tolerance is quite high =P

She took her time, shaping the brows with a needle. It didn't hurt much after the anesthetic. Irene then chose a suitable colour that suits not my hair (because hair colour can change!) but my iris, so dark brown it is!

She explained that the colour would peel within one week and based on recommendations and feedback, all of whom I know tried embroidery loved the results! So I was hoping the same :D

The entire process lasted for a good hour, almost an hour an a half because she would do brow by brow from left to right, up to down. The great thing about Bonbrow is that instead of tattooing, they draw similar (real hair like) brows and lines to create that natural look and the illusion of an authentic eyebrow hair.

Irene's skill was great! It looked exactly like my natural brow, only that it's a little dark when I first finished and it took me a while getting used to..

Reaching out on the streets

Last Saturday a group of us gathered outside a mamak across a hotel in Pudu knowing we were there for one purpose; to reach out and help the homeless.

Heck even I wasn't sure what to expect. But getting hands on for the first time, approaching people on the streets wasn't an easy task. Just thought I'd pen down my first experience from what I saw and touched that night.

ReachOut was founded early 2008 aiming to provide food, shelter, and job opportunities to those in need. They help the homeless reenter society, to be accepted again. To be part of the norm, all through the feeding program. According to Pete, the founder, he shared this inspiring thought about how people do not deserve to be sleeping on carton boxes or hand-carry luggage simply because people are not born on the streets so there has to be reasons or stories behind the fate of every one of these individuals.

The act of giving away food wasn't simple. It wasn't about feeding them, well how should I put it. Food was a means to get to know them better. You find a reason to talk to them via food. So what volunteers at ReachOut do is get to know them, what these unique individuals worked as or what they were like before they ended up homeless.

"The direct contact with the people who live a “street existence” has been invaluable in gaining their trust and gathering information on their needs. As a result of these observations we have established a need to treat not just the symptom (hunger) but the cause (poverty). It is clear that there are people willing and able to re enter society if given the opportunity – they just need to be shown the way." (via Reachoutmy)

True enough after walking around streets and alleys past midnight, wondering who we'd find..we heard them stories, stories of all kinds that would make your heart pound a little.

So anyway we started with a round of briefing to understand what we will be seeing and how to cope with any emotional feelings we may or may not feel afterwards. We were advised to not bring any valuables or wear shorts and sleeveless clothing --you know, just being careful. We were also encouraged to walk towards, not behind or away from these people of the streets.

We walked around Pudu, the stations, the alleys and there, I saw countless people sleeping on the pathway. First thought that came to my mind was..how can there be so many laying here?

I was shocked by the amount of people. So we proceeded to give them buns, water, oranges for Vitamin C, and packet of rice each. There were in total about 200 packets.

After the first few locations we moved on to Masjid India and Masjid Negara, areas around Petaling Street and off Jalan Ampang near Jalan Gereja..what all these streets have in common is the fact they are filled with homeless people. It's a scary thought when I put myself in their shoes, I never want to see my friends and loved ones end up there.

Stories that were being told were either fantasies or fact. I'd rather the former because the truth was saddening in a way.

One in particular that left me emotional was this guy who claimed he was robbed on the morning itself, all his documents and qualifications were stolen, his money, bags and wallet (he came for a job interview) all the way from Johor, he sounded educated and was fluent in English although he was a Malay guy clad in shorts and walked around barefooted. All he had on him were his shoes and a police report.

Rule number one in ReachOut was to never ever give money while feeding the homeless because you'll never know it they would really put it to good use so we were contemplating. After 10 minutes they decided that we'll get him a bus ticket back, so we donated RM 1 each to help buy him a ticket home. He was tearing and was very thankful. Imagine what RM 1 could do to help another person.

Then we also met a couple of interesting individuals from a lecturer to a homeless man on the streets, pregnant lady who was chased out of her home, all sorts.

The people at ReachOut visit so often that they even had names for the stray cats.

To my surprise, the stray cats recognized them immediately and ran about playing with the kids.

There were about 15 of us volunteers that night and most were from universities. I was so glad because rather than spending their time out elsewhere they were there in their sneakers and sling bags feeding cats with Friskies and whatnots. Something I learned to that night was that whether homeless or not, humans have feelings especially when it comes to food selection.

When we got there, another organization had already given them food in boxes but when we asked, some of them complained and would rather starve than eat. I was speechless yet trying to find a middle ground to understand what they were going through. So we continued our journey to the final spot, the lost city of Atlantis.

"You'll never know where this place is, nobody does," said Pete.

When we got there all I see was a dark underpass like those you'll see in zombie movies. Kechakkk attack! Anyway, I was stunned with what we saw, a lovely place with people living (duh!) but it wasn't that..it was the graffiti, the shelter, "home" that was built by the street people. If you take the monorail from Imbi - Pasar Seni - KL, you'll notice an area near Pasar Seni / Pudu where there's full of graffiti -done during a competition. But what you don't know is there's actually people living under the bridges, mattresses form a pent house. One of them actually shared that when it rains and it floods, she would move a level up (where to mattress is) and sleep.

Amazing or what. Not much graphics because it wasn't something they would like to be proud of so we tried to keep things simple. No photos or at the very least, no flash.

The clock showed almost 4am by the time we finished the food packets. It was all worthwhile and it would definitely not be our last, I'd like to invite you, any of you to join us the next time we reach out for the needy. You don't need money or old clothing, all they need is your concern to show that you can be their voice even if nobody listens to them. There is nothing to afraid of, in fact they are more afraid of us then we are of them, which is why we walk towards and approach them..and talk to them.

ReachOut is purely an online organization, apolitical and non religious based so people of all kinds can share your love to care and provide while you can. As Pete would say, "there is no Datukship or Datinship here don't expect a pat on your back or anything of that sort because you should be coming here to help the poverty stricken individuals reenter society and get back on their feet."

Random but I am referring to the world's first Japanese fashion magazine in English!

Don't misunderstand me, I have never been into Harajuku or lacey, cutesy Japanese-y stuff *honest! (and will never be) =P I couldn't understand why locals would buy those Japanese magazines in bookstores and convenient shops as if they could read the strokes and dots written in them magazines.

So I was out at 7Eleven the other day and I stumbled upon this magazine, Ray magazine.

It caught my eyes because at first I thought, "Ohh one of those.." but then I was surprised with the content and what was in them.

For a change we don't see porcelain like-oh-so-perfect-Caucasian models or Hollywood celebrities, the magazine had of course Japanese models but I felt like I could connect to what was written in them. Mainly because it revolves around topics that us Asians would enjoy reading.

This has gotta be one of the most relaxing Mondays, ever!

Just finished the entire Season 1 of Shameless in 2 days (no kidding!) you have to watch it, episodes are most outrageous. Storyline is so messed up, something most of us would enjoy ;)

Shameless - 6 kids all under one roof!

This series tells the story of an extremely dysfunctional family- the Gallaghers. Dad's a drunk, split with mom while the eldest daughter, Fiona (barely 21 years old) holds the family together and eldest son (Philip) who's a smarty pants tutors for sexual favours from the neighbourhood, middle son is gay, wait not done! youngest daughter is sensible but emotional, youngest son, Carl is a psychopath and an arsonist..finally toddler Liam who doesn't actually speak in this series..is a white child..who might actually be black.

Apart from stuffing myself with Shameless, I dyed my hair (again) after deciding that the previous colour was a tad too bright :D

No, I didn't go to any salon, but I bought the Liese Bubble Hair Colour.

This is the only time I can do an Elvis Presley :D

Hi guys, Selamat Hari Raya Haji to all my Muslim friends!

While most of you are away back in your hometown, gone on a road trip, or visiting houses of friends and families, I was at the launch of DG Color's Pro Shop, the largest photography shop in South East Asia with various brands under them.

That's me in their corporate video, which took two days of shooting.

I was amazed because the shop is huge with a lot of premium brands as well as local ones and because they are the manufacturer and distributor, the prices are a lot cheaper. Trust me, I was doubtful at first when they said it was pretty affordable, the cameras, lenses and stuff. But today, the Fujifilm polaroid that Steph bought from DG Color costs only below RM 200 (excluding discount), but I saw the same one in the mall for RM 299 =O

We shot the first few scenes on Friday night, they also have an indoor studio with backdrops.

Hey guys, it's that time of the year again. Happy Halloween!

Just a quick one to share how the nuffies celebrated Halloween this year. Well it's still the same old dressing up and partying although the team has grown a lot bigger this year. Before I share what we did last night, here's a recap of Halloween last year:

We had Wonder Woman, half angel/devil, Audrey Hepburn, and a lot more hotties!

We were in The Ascotts back then.

We both look very different one year ago (I still had black hair! =P)

Fast forward one year later.

I must say the eagerness to party and celebrate is still strong in our hearts but most of our stamina fell from a solid number to negative..seriously! We need a few days of rest just after a few hours of partying. -__-" sigh, all these signs of aging.

I didn't have much time to dress up because of a meeting with the organisers for an upcoming Charity Gala dinner for the band. I'm pretty excited because things are going great for the boys.

So anyway, before we headed to Zouk for their annual Halloween party, the party had already started in the evening at the Astro B.yond Hollywood & Celebrity night at Mont Kiara. Well the theme was basically to dress up as your favourite Hollywood star. So I figured the best way is to come in a costume that fits both event.

I love going for bloggers' events because they really put in a lot of effort in dressing up. That's the winner of best dressed female (above) congrats!

Ky as Marilyn Manson (I liked how he carried his guitar hero around last night) and his partner, Haze as the late Amy Winehouse.

So originally I had wanted to become a vampire (i know, it's so common!) but it's the easiest! Anyway, I started thinking more ever since we finished the entire Season 1-4 of True Blood. I love that series!

and my favourite vampire would be Jessica, YES THAT GIRL IS HOT!

I don't know if it's just me but I think she's grown prettier in the latest season. That's not a bad thing! :D

But then my plans didn't work out in the end due to the lack of time (though I already had gotten a cape and accessories) at 5pm just right after my meeting ended I panicked for a moment not knowing what to wear then Shaz told me that I could go as Emma Stone when I asked which brunette he likes. Pfft. So he secretly has a crush on Emma Stone. Don't ask me who's Emma Stone again or I'll keel you! (ok..ok..she's the chick in Easy A, Zombieland, my new favourite flick --Crazy Stupid Love (must watch! it's damn hilarious), and the upcoming Spiderman!!)

This is Emma Stone in Easy A (notice the A on her dress, you have to watch the movie to understand), but anyway, I decided to become Emma for the night at the Hollywood themed party.

It was also my first time trying to pull of a red lipstick look, but for starters here's my A that I randomly created out of a magazine page because of my short preparation time (barely 30 mins and I did my make up in less than 15 crazy!)

At first I was worried about how it'd turn out but then the thought just flew past while we were rushing to get there. When we got there, it was so nice seeing everyone in different costumes and make up.

My first make-up tutorial EVER

You know it's true when they say, there are no ugly women, only lazy ones. A simple routine can turn any plain Jane into someone noticeable.

I've always wanted to blog an entry about makeup but never had the time to so finally here comes my very first makeup tutorial. Sorry to disappoint you because it's not a video. To test the waters I figured just photos will do for now *video shy* =P

Recently I find myself to be in an extremely jolly Christmas mood and this look (with some Christmas flavours) is very simple to achieve only takes 15mins tops!

Just a quick before and after before I begin.

I learned a few tips from makeup artists at shoots and some of them are really useful. I also try to keep the make up minimal because the makeup done at shoots are extremely thick, sometimes I feel like my skin is screaming for air.

For starters, I use the BB Cream by Dr.G (Korean brand) on my face.

Only a tiny pinch will do because you don't want to look too fair and not match your neck and arms.

Use a sponge when you apply to achieve a balanced surface.

I like starting from the top to bottom, so instead of starting with my eyes I start with the brows. Well shaped eyebrows can help to brighten up your face, try to use tones that are similar to your hair colour.

1. Start by shaping your brows with an eyebrow pencil (it doesn't have to be in a perfect shape, just an outline will do)

2. I prefer using eyebrow shadow and fill them with a brush (like in the photo above) - use an angled brush for easier application

3. Start filling your eyebrows, remember to keep it light on the edge and darker on the arch.

This next step is optional to make your nose look sharper you can shade the sides of your nose with the same eyebrow tone.

I know I look funny here but waittttt!

Once you're done with your eyebrows and shading, move on to the most important part- your eyes. Instead of using the typical dark blue, grey or black shades, try something different.

I'm going to use a bright neon yellow/green colour on my eyes. But before you apply this, put on a makeup base or any neutral tones on your lids and beneath your brows.

I've learned that it's better to use your fingers when applying eyeshadow. Use your fourth finger (ring finger) instead of your pointer or third finger because it's a lot gentle and doesn't put too much pressure onto your lids. Gently pat your lids (do not swipe the colours like how you'd do lotions)

Good thing is when you apply the base with your ring finger, your tear ducts will naturally carry some shimmer of that neutral tone. So right after applying the yellow on your lids (place more focus in the middle because you'll be blending in a darker tone at the corners of your eyes)

Brushes for blending and application

Next, blend in a darker tone at the corners of your eye using brush (1)

I'm using Dark Brown (shimmer) from Definite.

Make sure you blend in properly to avoid looking like you just got punched in the eyes =P Apply the brown shade on an upward motion to blend in with the yellow.

When you're done with both eyes, apply liquid eyeliner (for more defined look) onto the upper lids.

I'm using the Black liner from Cybercolors. Remember to extend the line at the corners, I drew two lines at the end to give it a "lash wing" look so that the eyes would appear longer.

Besides the regular black liner, try using colour pencil/crayon liners. They help to brighten your eyes.

Here I'm using Dark green from Maybelline, connect the green with the first "wing" of the black liner. Remember to continue blending with your brush.

And don't forget the bottom lids, you can use the same brown shade and green liner for the bottom lids.

I prefer applying them at the corners until the middle portion of your pupils. This will make your eyes pop.

Finish up the eyes with a pair of false lashes. Depending on the occasion, you can opt for more dramatic lashes if it's a night event. I use the black eyelid glue for this look.

If you're used to applying lashes then you can opt for the black one that gives you an additional liner on your lids otherwise the usual transparent glue will do.

And finally, the cheeks. I use a bronzer instead of the pink blusher to achieve a sun tan glow.

I'm using the bronzer from TopShop, remember to apply the bronzer upwards from your cheeks to the corners of your forehead.

To finish up the look you can apply some highlighter onto your nose bridge and areas that you want to enhance.

To keep the look simple, you can use the lipgloss but here my lips are nude.

Happy Diwali!

And guess what, I'm sipping hot chocolate at the indoor Starbucks under the cold..cold weather while typing this.

I'm in Genting! =D

It's been a long while since we drove up to enjoy a glass of hot chocolate. Right after work, Jayne (the superwoman) drove us up and checked us in and as soon as we got here..dang! Love how random this girl is. :)

It's pretty rainy here so we will only be visiting the theme park tomorrow! <3 My last trip to Genting was at least half a year ago.

My fringe is a mess =S

Hairy update: I'm still learning to style the curls, I've also tried wax, mousse, Lucido hair jelly,..and plain water.

Personally like wax that is non sticky. A tip for big curls, try not to scrunch hair too much, just let it air dry and apply some styling lotion and you're all set.

The day we hijacked..

Just one week ago, we hijacked Afo Radio's studio for a good two hours. Maybe not hijacked, we were invited to host a show, The Rock Show, one of their most popular segments where they feature artistes and local bands like Dragon Red, Blister, and other musicians. We were lucky to be part of this and of course excited too!

We met the night before at Vince's to go through a rough itinerary and rehearsed our parts. Well not rehearsed but just so we don't stumble and make a fool of ourselves too far beyond hahah

It was our first time hosting on air, emceeing is a lot different because you can see a crowd, gather their reaction and pose questions to get feedback and move on from there. BUT ON THE RADIO IT'S THE OPPOSITE. You face four alls, well, fully cushioned walls wit microphones, headphones, and computers all around you. WHAT SAY YOU.

I wasn't nervous until we got there...late (as usual because look who's driving =P err hum). So anyway, we had 15 min to prepare and learn the buttons and what nots. It's easier said than done, really! When Navsta (Aforadio's DJ) showed us the volume, buttons, where to click, where to pause when you want to speak through the mics, how not to make sure people don't hear you talking in the background,

OH EMM GEEE.

My fingers were iced cold and memories went blank. Worse than a gold fish.

I kid you not.

We wanted to make it as informal as possible, so we got our followers and fans involved via Twitter and Facebook. We called for song request for our #freeloading session with AFO Radio.

We played as many songs as we can while talking about band experiences, funny moments and random stuff about which performers we liked and hated..ohh and the fun part was responding to the listeners of the station who wrote in while the Rock Show was on! How cool is that! :D

In another part of the show Shaz and Vince also played a cover of Neon Tree's animal and two of Freeloaders Inc's cover- Under the Willow Tree and Soul Shaker.

Will share the link with you guys once they send it across! I think I still prefer emceeing in front of a live crowd phew, but that was some fun experience..even Navsta was surprised *hint hint* :)

Hello curls!

I remember back in high school when most of us were dressed in blue pinafores, some girls would either alter their skirts shorter, dress in baju kurung wearing fancy bras, or have their hair rebonded, meaning dead straight. Aye, no smirking because I too had super straight hair last time.

I was from an all girls' school by the way..so girls influence girls..in a way.

Over the past couple of years, I've also overcome a couple of bad experiences with sucky hairstylists and salons.

SEE THAT AWKWARD FACE.

That was the worst perm I've ever had, not only did it stick with me for a few months, it was a struggle to put them in place every morning before lectures and tutorials. FML.

As I grew older, I've stayed away from short haircuts mainly because I didn't think short hair would suit my face shape. The round/oval shape.

People won't take me seriously if I look like a kid either =P

A few months ago I finally did what I wanted, bangs. And surprisingly it didn't look too bad..or at least that's what most people said lol

Remember that before you do anything, you have to test the waters first. So I got myself a clip-on fringe to see how bangs would look like on my big forehead.

Not too much of a difference from the real bangs I had later on.

One thing I like about having bangs is that it looks stylish even when you're having a bad hair day. Just tie them in a pony tail or a bun, slip on a pair of jeans and top and you're ready to paint the town red hahah my secret =P

Today I also noticed how most girls I know can never stick to one hairstyle.

It's true, who doesn't like to look better, hotter, and sexier? Little things can make you look very different, even if it's just a change in hair colour.

I met a client whom I've not seen in months yesterday and the first thing he said, "Everytime I see you, you have a different hairstyle of colour" LOL *nods*

But truth be told no matter how I try to change my hair style, the length is still going to be long.

I DIGGG LONG HAIR! =)

So last weekend when Shaz and I went shopping in Times Square, I hopped into Kimarie, can't remember which floor, they have 10 storeys -__-"

Originally I just wanted a hair cut because since my hair is already wavy I thought no point wasting money to curl but then my hairstylist was an awesome sales woman, I got conned into trying their Korean perm.

Okla, not conned. It was actually great because I love the outcome! You know all those soppy Korean movies and movies like 200 Pounds Beauty, I've always admired Kim Ah Joong's hair in that movie! And whenever I try to explain that kind of curls, any hairstylists would tell me.. "it's all fake la, you can't perm these curls, they are all set using hair tongs, curlers, what nots".

But Voyce (the name of my hairstylist) assured me that I would like the Korean perm..so I did it.

The whole process took about 2 hours, no equipments needed. Just 2 kinds of hair cream, hair strengthener and curly. First she applied the strengthener and left it on for 10 min, before applying the lasting cream and curling my hair into a moderate level.

And the result:

Soft, airy curls--although it won't last as long as a year, the Korean perm helped define my wavy hair more, now I don't need hair buns to create natural wavy curls =D *jumps in joy*

It must have been about 10am or earlier when we gathered at the shoot venue. I wasn't expecting much, had my make up done then went through the storyboard with the director. They were quite friendly although I missed more than half of Urbanscapes that day, I managed to get a glimpse of the standalone The Bee, and some performances that night.

It was my first time putting on a bridal gown (excluding the last three times I've been a bridesmaid for real) the feeling is.....hard to describe. Luckily I could fit in it! since I didn't have no choice of clothing, just this one.

The entire shoot took almost one whole day, I remember panicking because I missed Flinc's performance that day but it was a wholesome experience, I had a lot of fun.

The race to get fatter?

It was for our own good when one fine day, a group of us (the nuffies) after lunch, decided that it was time to lose some weight.

Having been working for almost two years now, I realize it's extremely tough to keep in shape especially with the many late nights and eating meals after meals, during working hours.

Just before I left for London, the nuffies came up with what we called the Nuffies Fat Race. No, not a race to get fat but instead to lose weight. We figured it sounded better than Nuffies Fat (loss) Race. =D

To my surprise, I managed to lose some weight even after the ten days trip *jumps in glory =D*
and I was shocked when Angie announced it. Never expected it because there were 9 of us, and many tried really hard, and they did extremely well too!! Some sabo-ed me saying sure get fatter eating western food, fish n chips and all -__-"

The last I remember touching a pot was...a few months ago up until recently.. I took a big step into the Masterchef (bloggers edition) kitchen to cook up a dish.

I wasn't prepared for criticisms and being graded for my cooking because afterall cooking has always been pleasurable, not stressful. So when I opened that white box (with surprise ingredients), I saw a packet of chicken breasts, capsicums, onions, mushrooms, a potato and tons of herbs on the shelves on my right hand side.

My heart stopped for a moment and my mind went blank.

We were given 50 mins (more or less) to cook up a dish --and garnishing didn't come to mind!

I was on my way to making grilled honey chicken breast with grilled vegetables up until the real chef (owner of the Cooking House at Hartamas) shouted, "15mins left to go!"

Oh, my dear Lord. What have I gotten myself into.

I. HAVE. NOT. COOKED. THE. CHICKEN.

There were photographers and people taking videos along the way but I put myself together and quickly started grilling my marinated chicken breasts. That was one hurdle, and garnishing was the worst. I tried the usual sauce under the meat with some leaves but then I was disheartened when chef asked, "Darling, you're not garnishing with that, are you?"

Shy -__-" so I headed back to the sink and started washing my plate again. Apart from whipping this dish, we also learned to cook poached eggs and trust me, it's not as easy as it seems.

I presented my dish to the judges and they thought it was done fairly well :D so I wasn't upset but instead pretty pleased because I had a lot of fun cooking under stress.

My Bizzy Body Day Out!

Hi! When it comes to self pampering, I don't deny that it's something I love doing. After a long week staring at computer screens and working, it is only right that we put our feet down, relax and pamper ourselves, no? heheheh

Realized that my photos are way backdated but I'm still sharing it anyway. All thanks to Bizzy Body, it was a great opportunity for me to lose some fats while pampering my body.

With Traclyn, Charlene, Li Hua, and the staff from the Sunway Pyramid outlet. We were lucky to try out Bizzy Body's signature E-Intense treatment worth RM 660! :)

It was so sweet of them to create a bunting just for the cosy session.

So anyway, the entire e-intense treatment takes about 2 sessions to complete. It's a package and a mixture of 2 separate treatments including their Marine Detox wrap and their slimming treatment that includes the use of an Infra Ray heat blanket (you know, those warm blanket that makes you sweat?) Well let me explain a little more in a bit.

Frankly, I've never tried any slimming centres and sessions before this so this was my first time (another cherry popped!) Of course as a freshie, I'd have tons of questions popping in my tiny head and I always figured just cutting down the carbs would do some good since my weight goes up and down pretty easily. Most of my questions were answered by their friendly staff who even gave me a strict diet plan! Seriously, you want an idea? Tofu and eggs for the first three days--nothing else!

*hell no I thought!* hahaha but the treatments provided are not exactly meant to make me lose weight miraculously, of course it would take a couple more and determination, silly.

The Marine Detox wrap is designed to help detoxify the body and improve the body contour. You know, like help you achieve the best shape and force your fats to go in the right direction? Err hum. Okay la, I kid. Basically the Marine Detox wrap helps to enhance fat metabolism and it consists of a marine detox body mask, a body contour wrap, and an infra ray heat blanket.

After its application (it's pretty cold! especially when the rooms are air-conditioned!) the female therapist would help me cling wrap my body while explaining how and why she did it. Apparently by wrapping your entire body (very tightly!), it would help the nutrients and detoxifying components penetrate faster and better into our bodies.

After which I rested in the infra ray heat blanket for a good 30 minutes. *ahh so comfy* I felt warm and cosy, almost dozed off in the rather dim lights.

I started sweating after about 10 minutes (and mind you, I don't sweat easily! except for when I'm at the gym running my ass off!) and time flew by really quickly. I had to wash off the mask right after and my skin felt extremely smooth like tofu after that. :) Right after, my therapist took my measurements again (she did once before we started applying the mask) and I did feel like my skin became a lot toner.

Not going to reveal my measurements, like how women are sensitive about their age muahahah

The second treatment was focusing more towards slimming the body after detoxing in the first round. So I had my second session at the same outlet a day later because it is advisable to complete the E-Intense within 3 days after your first session. So basically the slimming treatment helps burn off fats and increase metabolism rate and digestion. Once again I am assigned to a therapist who will take my measurements and answer any questions I have while finding out my concerns and of course, she shared what my ideal weight should be in accordance to my height.

As women, we are most of the time insecure about something, anything. Be it our arms, thighs, tummy, or..wherever. In simple words, we are never satisfied.

For this slimming treatment, they used this machine with wires that could target certain body parts and it felt like current was going through the outer layer of my skin. Not painful at all, instead I felt a tingling sensation (you know how when you turn on OSIM and it vibrates so fast, you feel itchy? yes that's it! =P)

So it lasted for about 30 minutes before I proceeded with my heat blanket, but this time with Ginseng oil to accompany the super tight cling wrap. I swear I felt like a mummy for a moment, couldn't move much..but...my waist never felt that tiny in a long while hahahah

This time around, I really dozed off while in the heat blanket, it felt sooo comfortable although I could barely feel my body due to the tightness of the cling wrap. My favourite part is when my therapist removes the wrap with her unique scissors, felt like a big relieve :D There was not a very big difference in my body size or weight but my skin definitely felt a lot smoother and tone after the detoxifying and wrapping to shape my body.
